Polly Genevieve captures the delicate, almost pointillistic brush strokes used to capture tiny detail within miniatures. The design of this Liberty print originally featured jewels but worked more beautifully as a layered texture.

The Sixteenth Century: the height of the Renaissance – The Renaissance emerged in Florence in the late Middle Ages, with clothing counting for a significant proportion of household expenditure. The affluent demanded luxurious textiles, multi-coloured silks, figured velvets and brocade. Almost every element of a garment was decorated with embroidered pattern, thanks to the Tudor and Elizabethan affinity with the natural world.
The fabrics in this collection are inspired by Tudor miniatures, the paintings of Hans Holbein and the repetitive, stylised Blackworkcreated by well-born women of the time.
