Inspired by our new season fabrics? The experts at Sew Over It have made their Ultimate Shift Dress in Artist’s Bloom fabric, a large-scale floral with an irresistibly bright colour palette. This classic shape comes with a belt for cinching in the waist, or can be worn without for a vintage feel.
“Remember, neat and careful finishing is the key to a gorgeous garment. When sewing the neckline, make sure that you trim and clip the seam allowances all around the curves, before understitching and pressing beautifully. This will give you a super finish to be proud of.” – Alex, Sew Over It
Denim is the perfect antidote to a busy print. Keep accessories to a minimum, and even this striking print is idea for laid back summer days. Dress it up with higher heels and a pashmina for more formal events. Alternatively, you can experiment with matching fabrics and prints to really make this design your own.
For the more ambitious, Alex at Sew Over It recommends experimenting with the details: “If you're making the sleeveless version, experiment with different finishing techniques for the armholes. Make your own bias binding from your fabric to bind them neatly, or add some interest by using a contrasting colour.”
